War Log: Day One

As I mentioned in the last post, Kaede Industries received its first wardec this past Sunday, with hostilities beginning on Monday. This post is the first in a series talking about how the war played out. Hint: it went well. On a related note, we have essentially quadrupled in membership since the war began. That’s pretty good for indy corp recruitment during war time. So, here’s how it all began…

A Different Kind of Roam

Over the weekend, I decided to try my hand at some trading. I used both my DST and my BR on two empires-wide trading roam circuits that constituted a total of about 15 hours or so of total gameplay. I won’t post details of profits made because numbers-wise it’s not particularly impressive (primarily because my starting capital was low, which limited how much isk I could put in play to profit off the margins). But I did learn some things making newbie mistakes that might help guide other fledgling traders. Continue reading

Getting the Ball Rolling

I had planned to enter a blog post over the weekend, but unfortunately didn’t get around to it. But don’t worry, dear readers. It was a busy weekend in-game, and now it’s time to fill you in on everything you missed. We added some people to the corp, set up a new shiny, banged our head against corp role mechanics, took advantage of a fortuitous wormhole, and conducted some diplomacy. Strap in and read on! Last night, I had to cut my in-game activities short because it was bedtime. Meaning that my mining trip into high-sec was going to have to be carried over into another day. I was slightly annoyed, because the longer I’m away from my home region, the longer my market orders, production queue, and PI network are left to fend for themselves. The annoyance was mainly because I could have finished up my operation that night if I’d started earlier. It got me thinking about how we, as players, choose to manage our time in and out of game. Like an Orca on Ice

Like an Orca on IceBeing Saturday, I was able to get online early in the day and catch some members of my old corp online who are EU timezone. Turns out they were hitting up a Blue Ice anomaly and their booster was missing in action. The system they were mining in was about 9 jumps from my Orca pilot alt. I figured this would be a perfect opportunity to take my still shiny new Orca on the road. I loaded up my Orca’s travel fit and set off to come to the rescue of some poor, unboosted miners. My First Drake

I stayed up a little later last night than normal in order to finish up some hauling. I started my trek yesterday afternoon by running half a hold full of Enriched Uranium to a high buy order in Lonetrek on the way to Jita to sell some Nuclear Reactors, the other half of my haul. I used the proceeds to buy some shiny new blueprints to fill in the gaps in my collection, including a couple of Myrmidon and Drake BPCs. Continue reading
