One of those features in development is the tentatively titled “New Player Hub”. My idea for this section of the website is a simple one-stop shop for tips, basic explanations of core concepts and terminology, as well as a host of links to all the existing far-flung resources that can be hard to find if you don’t really know what you’re supposed to be looking for. I know, it sounds awesome.
“One of the most frustrating things
as a new player is sifting
through the minutia of a topic
to find the fundamental concept
you most need to know.”
The tricky part is striking the right balance between consolidation of information and reinventing the wheel. There’s a ton of exhaustive information already floating around out there that doesn’t necessarily need to be reproduced, but sometimes what you really want to find as a new player is a place where somebody just lays out some basics. Because there are things a new player should know upfront.
I have plans for several subsections of the New Player Hub, but one that I’d like to go ahead and highlight upfront is a section with tips for a new player. Those little pieces of advice that you wish someone had offered to you when you were first playing, before you found out on your own through bitter experience. I’ve started a thread on Reddit asking for players to offer their ideas for tips to add to this section. Please comment there or on this post with your own ideas!
